The Optio Centuriae to the Primus Pilus of Legio VI FFC is Marcus Agorius Donatus.
Born in the city of Narbo
in the province of Narbonensis
in 3 BC. He is the son of Savfeia Thalea, an unfortunate, and Postvmvs Geta, a legionaire from VII Geminav. After
his father retired from the army he legally married Savfeia and moved to the country, making Donatvs a Roman citizen.
During his childhood Donatus was spent a lot of time in the local villages. He enjoyed getting to know the
locals and learning the different customs and traditions. At the age of 16 Donatvs was quick to enlist in the legions,
even against his fathers wishes. He was assigned to Legio I Germanica. He quickly distinguished himself by learning
local customs and improving local conditions towards the legion. He first saw action in the forest of Germania
under the command Legatvs Germanicvs. During this two year campagin he saw more than his fare share of action,
primarly as a guide and undercover agent in local tribes. During the second year of the campagin he received high honors
for gathering intellagenice that led to the capture of Thusnelda, the wife of Arminius. When Germanicvs put up
for winter quarters, Donatus was given command of a detail that escorted Thusnelda to Rome so she could be put on display.
Shortly after the successful campagin in Germania Donatvs and many of his friends were reasinged to help with revolts in Judeah.
During a revolt in the city of Be'er Sheva the vexilarivs was killed. Seeing that the men were demoralized by this Donatvs
took up the vex and charged the crowd. After the revolt was put down the Primvs Pilvs was so impressed by
his bravery in the face of such odds that he appointed Donatvs as his Optio.
