PARK FEE: There is a $2 fee per person (kids and seniors are less) to enter the park, this is
a State fee to support the park. That is the only mandatory fee. Please be sure to put your money in the box,
as Givhans Ferry State Park has been extremely supportive of Castra over the years! They deserve it.
Also help us keep the park pristine by leaving it the way we found it. Place trash in containers, keep the place clean,
and take care of the facilities!
DONATIONS: We heartily recommend you pay $3 Census Donatio TAX on each adult and $2 on
each child... after all, we are Romans! If you have a large family, give what you can. We do not want
you to be turned away by the Donatio! The Guards at the entrance to the Roman Camp will be happy to accept your
DONATION.
We do not charge an "Event Fee" for your attendance, nor do we charge our re-enactors to participate.
We do it for the love of the Genre, and because we get to have fun too. Look for the donation basket to pay
your Census Donatio (TAX) at the Army Camp, the Camp Guard will point it out! We do it this way because
we have kids too, and understand what an impediment it is to pay outrageous fees when you have a bunch of children!
This way even the cheaper by the dozen crowd can come and enjoy a quality day of fun and education.
That said, we are spending about $1500 to do the event this year (estimated), so if you can contribute,
we greatly appreciate it. All donations are directly used to cover Castra this year, and pay for next year (if we have
any left over). Obviously that does not include the cost of armor and tents and such, just the park fees, rentals, incidentals,
etc etc etc.
So come on out, enjoy yourself, bask in the glory that was Rome. If you are able, drop a few bucks,
buy a souvenier and learn something new!
